Tom Pahl and his son Brian were recent winners of another NASCAR Hot Pass giveaway. They spent the weekend at Michigan International Speedway as guests of Keen Parts / CorvetteParts.net and got to experience the race from an entirely new perspective. “We got to talk to the Pit Crew and watch the race from right there in the pit,” said Tom. “We had a talk with the guy who fuels the car, where he explained exactly how much it weighs and how precise he has to be.” Tom and Brian even met Matt DiBenedetto, the driver of the GoFas Racing car. Although he has attended other NASCAR races, Tom highly recommends the Hot Pass experience. “We enjoyed it tremendously. It was one of the best Fathers Day presents I’ve ever had.”
The Pahls have a long history with Corvettes
Tom is a long-time Corvette enthusiast. “I started repairing upholstery for a ’65 Corvette almost back in 1965,” Tom said. As Tom’s expertise grew, word of mouth helped his restoration hobby become a profitable sideline business. He still has a paint booth in his barn, but he does not actively restore too many cars anymore. His current project is a big-block 1970 Corvette that he started on almost 30 years ago. It only has 2,200 original miles, and it has become a family project. His son Brian enjoys the Corvette hobby, and his granddaughter even helped him pull the body off the ’70 to powder-coat the frame. “I can’t wait to start it up again. It has been a long time,” Tom said.
