The Yard Find Story
Proof that nice guys don’t always finish last!
Kevin had always been a “car guy”- collecting and enjoying several classic Chevrolets over the years. In 2014, he learned that the father of a co-worker had an unusual car sitting in the back yard covered by a tarp. The amazing detail was that the car had been stored in the back yard for FORTY YEARS! Kevin wanted to see it, although the friend explained that the vehicle was NOT for sale. Kevin was impressed by what he saw and asked his friend to remember him if they ever considered selling. The family’s story was not unusual. The father always wanted to restore the car when time and money allowed.
Nice guys sometimes finish first!
Fast forward a few years and the father very sadly learned that he had terminal cancer. He wanted the car under the tarp to go to the “right person.” When people found out that the car was for sale- a bidding war ensued. The owner’s family was familiar with Kevin and comfortable that he was not out to make a quick buck by flipping the car. Kevin had also told the family about the unique way that he wanted to restore the vehicle.
Proving that nice guys don’t always finish last- they sold the car to Kevin despite higher offers! Kevin instantly showed his commitment to the vehicle by turning down a substantial profit when someone tried to purchase the car from him on the very day that he bought it. He IS a nice guy!
Keen Parts enters the story
Kevin is a knowledgeable car guy. He evaluated the car and determined that it was pretty much all there. He knew that there would still be some components that could not be restored and would need to be replaced with accurate reproductions or original parts if they could even be located. Kevin was familiar with Keen Parts and approached us with the story of his Yard Find.
