Tom & TJ Keen and the Keen Parts team have been providing quality parts and fast service for going on three decades. Looks like they might be branching out. We have never done a guest post, but this was a great opportunity to hear straight from a new fan of Keen Parts…!
About 2 weeks ago I found the car I had wanted since I was a teenager: A 1973 Corvette Stingray (454, of course) in the original white paint. Unfortunately, the car was on the other side of the country from me. San Diego is a long way from Cincinnati. After contacting the seller and making an offer on the car, I reached out to a few mechanics in the Cincinnati area to try to arrange a pre-purchase inspection.
After making two cold calls, one dealership told me to call Tom at Keen Parts, the Corvette expert of the area. I called Tom, explained that I would like to hire him (or someone from the store) to go take a look at the car and make sure it was in good shape. Tom spent about 90 minutes on the phone with me (again we had never met) asking what I was looking for, why I wanted this particular car and inspected the photos online that were available.
He then called the seller directly and had him bring the car to Keen Parts to inspect it. Tom gave me a good review of the vehicle and offered a lot of wisdom on the fair value of the vehicle, and ultimately convinced me to go ahead with the purchase process. I took the redeye to Cincinnati the next night, bought the car (after a quick test drive), and shipped it to San Diego. I tried to pay Tom for his services, but he absolutely refused.
I’ve never owned a Corvette, and frankly, I’m no car expert – I still have a lot to learn about my new car. But Tom taught me that the Corvette community is a good one, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Thanks, Tom – next time you are in San Diego I will treat you to a round of golf!
